Stable and meaningful work with a locally owned company. In this position you will be responsible for Grounds Maintenance, Cremation Duties, Grave Preparation and Machinery Operation.
Grounds Maintenance
- Mow lawns and maintain turf areas within cemetery and crematorium grounds.
- Cleaning & levelling of Monuments and top dressing graves
- Perform whipper snipping, edging, pruning, spraying and general horticultural tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and order across all public and operational areas, including pathways, gardens, burialsites, buildings, sheds, Chapel and offices.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely and effectively.
- Obey and comply with WHS procedures.
Cremation Duties
- Carry out cremation processes in accordance with legal, ethical, and procedural standards.
- Handle deceased persons respectfully and with discretion.
- Maintain and clean cremation equipment and related facilities.
- Accurately complete documentation and records relating to cremation services.
- Obey and comply with W.H & S procedures.
- Grave Preparation and Machinery Operation
- Operate a backhoe and other machinery to dig and backfill graves.
- Ensure accurate placement and sizing of graves as per burial plans.
- Adhere to all safety and manual handling protocols during grave preparation.
- Assist with setting up and supporting burial and memorial services.
The Ideal Candidate - Essential
- Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or similar outdoor maintenance roles.
- Willingness to be trained in and perform cremation processes (including handling deceased bodies).
- Physically fit
- Professional, respectful & reliable
- Manual car License
The Ideal Candidate - Desired
- Backhoe experience and licence
- Previous experience in cemetery or crematorium operations
- Knowledge of horticulture and landscape maintenance practices
- First Aid Certificate
- Truck licence, Forklift ticket
