Workforce Extensions Ballarat is proud to partner with Tuddy's Engineering to recruit an experienced Structural Steel Detailer / Draftsperson to join their growing team.

This is far more than a drafting role. You'll work alongside Project Managers, Fabricators and Site Teams to ensure every project is practical, buildable and ready for fabrication. Your expertise will help drive project success from the drawing board through to installation, making you an integral part of the delivery team.

The Opportunity

As the link between design, fabrication and construction, you'll prepare accurate shop drawings, erection drawings and fabrication documentation that allow projects to move efficiently through the workshop and onto site.

Working collaboratively across the business, you'll help identify potential issues before fabrication begins, contribute to smarter project outcomes and play a key role in maintaining the quality standards Tuddy's Engineering has become known for.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings and fabrication details.
• Produce bolt lists, material schedules and fabrication documentation.
• Review and revise drawings in response to client changes, RFIs and engineering updates.
• Attend project sites to verify measurements and confirm existing site conditions where required.
• Identify discrepancies and potential issues before fabrication commences.
• Assist Project Managers by identifying and documenting project variations.
• Work closely with the workshop team to ensure drawings are practical, accurate and fabrication ready.
• Maintain drawing revisions and document control throughout each project.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and project delivery.

About You

You're a detail focused professional who enjoys solving problems and seeing your work come to life through fabrication and construction.

You'll ideally bring:

• Experience detailing structural steel or working within the steel fabrication industry.
• Strong drafting experience using industry recognised software.
• The ability to accurately interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality documentation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with Project Managers, Fabricators and Site Teams.
• The confidence to identify issues, ask questions and contribute to better project outcomes.
• A proactive approach and genuine pride in delivering accurate work.
