About the role.

This is a full-time position for someone who is passionate about accounting and looking to advance their career. We are seeking an experienced Accountant who is interested in developing their client base with a focus on career advancement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS's) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS's)
  • Prepare Financial Statements, including Depreciation Schedules
  • Prepare Income Tax Returns
  • Prepare CGT calculations and provide advice to clients
  • Liaise with the ATO on client matters
  • Assist with business entity setup and registration
  • Prepare ATO applications such as ABN, TFN, GST and PAYG
  • Prepare invoices for clients and ensure all work is accurately billed
  • Provide general accounting and taxation advice to clients
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings.
  • Research and accurately interpret taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings for clients
  • Participate in external and internal training as required
  • Ensure that all work is error-free and professionally presented and complies with Scotts CA's procedures and systems
  • Maintain current and accurate files and record and date any actions and detailed file notes
  • Prepare work flow reports for your own client work
  • Prepare cash flow budgets and profit plains for clients
  • Attend client meetings
  • Follow up to clients with queries
  • Other duties as requested

About you.

Applicants with the following skills, attributes and experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Strong accounting skills and technical knowledge including a high level of tax competence
  • Membership of a Professional Accounting Body (preference CA)
  • Xero experience
  • Excellent organisation skills and approach to your work
  • Strong computer skills in all MS applications.
  • A 'can-do' attitude and ready to go the extra mile for your team and clients
  • Fierce attention to detail
  • Always looking to improve or do things in a better way
  • Loyalty and strict confidentiality
  • Maturity to handle a range of situations
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Bubbly, vibrant personality, who can deal with a range of clients and situations
