Workforce Extensions is currently recruiting on behalf of Plum Heating & Cooling for people to join their growing service team across Melbourne's Western Suburbs.

We're particularly interested in speaking with mature-age apprentices, including people looking to make a genuine career change, as well as qualified plumbers interested in developing their skills within the heating and cooling industry. Previous heating and cooling experience isn't essential. If you have the right attitude and plumbing foundation, Plum can provide the industry-specific training required.

Plum Heating & Cooling is a well-established, family-run business that has been operating for more than 30 years.

The business is looking to expand its team and is open to candidates at different stages of their careers, including:

• Mature-age candidates looking to commence a plumbing apprenticeship
• 1st to 4th Year Apprentice Plumbers
• Apprentices looking for a new employer to complete their qualification
• Recently qualified plumbers
• Experienced qualified plumbers looking for a change
• Plumbers interested in developing specialist heating and cooling experience

For those considering a mature-age apprenticeship, previous experience in construction, trades, maintenance, mechanical work or other hands-on industries would certainly be advantageous, but isn't essential.

What matters is that you're serious about building a career in the trade and prepared to learn.

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you'll gain exposure to residential heating and cooling installation, servicing and associated plumbing work.

Depending on your existing skills and experience, duties may include:

• Installation of heating and cooling systems
• Residential plumbing and associated installation work
• Working alongside experienced technicians and qualified plumbers
• Fault finding and problem solving
• Servicing and repair work as your experience develops
• Using hand and power tools
• Working within customers' homes and communicating professionally with clients
• Completing work safely and to a high standard
• Learning the technical requirements of heating and cooling systems
• Developing the skills required to work more independently as you progress

Qualified applicants would naturally be given responsibilities appropriate to their existing experience and capabilities.

Likewise, if you're already a qualified plumber but haven't worked specifically within heating and cooling, we'd still encourage you to apply. Training can be provided to develop the specialist knowledge required.
