Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper - Whyalla (Local Business)

Workforce Extensions are currently recruiting on behalf of a well established and growing Whyalla based business seeking a highly capable Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper.

This is a key role within the organisation, suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the ongoing success of a local business.

About the Role
Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business while also providing accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making. You will play a hands-on role across all transactional and compliance functions, while working closely with our external accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for end-to-end payroll processing (including leave management, and award interpretation where required)
• Management and reconciliation of superannuation, PAYG withholding, and payroll tax obligations
• Overseeing Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, collections, and debtor management
• Overseeing Accounts Payable (AP), including supplier payments and cash flow monitoring
• Bank reconciliations
• Maintaining and improving internal financial systems, controls, and processes

About You

• Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting or senior bookkeeping role
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, and taxation obligations
• High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proficiency in accounting software (MYOB or similar) and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
• Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (desirable)
