Business Development/Internal Sales Person

BMHE is a family owned and operated business that has been supplying material handling equipment, storage solutions, packaging supplies and safety products to Ballarat and Regional Victoria since 2003.

BMHE is now looking for a Business Development / Internal Sales Person to build on that reputation, strengthen customer relationships and help drive the next stage of growth.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong local networks, good business acumen and a genuine interest in sales to join an established business where relationships matter and everyone plays a part.

The opportunity

Based at BMHE's Mitchell Park premises, this is a varied role combining in house sales and customer service with business development. You'll spend four days a week working alongside the team and currently one day a week visiting customers and developing new opportunities.

Working closely with the Directors, you'll help grow sales across BMHE's existing customer base while identifying new customers and opportunities throughout Ballarat and Regional Victoria.

You'll also have the opportunity to bring fresh ideas to the business, improve how sales opportunities are managed and help customers make the most of BMHE's broad range of products and services.

Key responsibilities

• Build genuine, lasting relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Identify opportunities to grow sales by introducing customers to BMHE's broader range of products and services.
• Develop new business through local networking, customer visits and proactive sales activity.
• Promote BMHE's material handling, storage, packaging, safety and pallet racking products and services.
• Manage counter, phone and email enquiries, prepare quotations and follow up sales opportunities.
• Maintain accurate customer information and use sales data to identify opportunities and track progress.
• Work with the Directors and wider team to support sales, marketing and business development.
• Contribute to the day to day running of the business and be willing to help with practical tasks when needed.

About you

We're looking for someone who understands that good sales is about more than making a quick transaction. It's about knowing your customers, understanding their needs and building relationships that keep them coming back.

You'll ideally bring:

• Proven sales experience and a strong understanding of business and commercial opportunities.
• Established local networks and an understanding of the Ballarat business community.
• Good business acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities, use data and analytics to make decisions and take initiative.
• Confidence dealing with a diverse range of customers, from tradies and small businesses through to larger organisations.
• A practical, organised approach to managing enquiries, quotations and customer follow up.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
• A willingness to roll up your sleeves, help out and take on the basic tasks that come with working in a close-knit business.
• A current Victorian driver's licence.

Experience in material handling, industrial supply, storage, safety or trade related industries would be an advantage. However, we're open to someone with strong sales experience from another industry who can bring the right skills, attitude and local knowledge.
