Commercial/Procurement Officer

We are seeking an experienced Commercial / Procurement Officer to support project delivery across a diverse range of civil and infrastructure works throughout the state.

Purpose of the Role

To manage procurement, commercial contracts, supplier relationships and cost risks across Chief Group's projects - ensuring value-for-money outcomes, quality of goods and services, and timely supply to meet project delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage procurement strategies for materials, subcontractors and plant
• Solicit, assess and recommend vendor quotes, proposals and tenders
• Negotiate contracts including pricing, delivery schedules and payment terms
• Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships
• Monitor vendor performance, delivery accuracy and quality compliance
• Collaborate with estimating and project teams to align procurement with budgets and delivery plans
• Conduct commercial risk assessments and value engineering opportunities
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contractual standards and governance frameworks

Required Skills, Attributes and Experience

• Procurement, commercial or supply chain experience - preferably within civil construction
• Strong commercial acumen with well-developed negotiation and financial analysis skills
• Excellent communication and relationship management ability
• Knowledge of construction materials, plant and subcontractor markets
• Experience working with procurement or ERP systems (preferred)
• Motivated and organised: able to manage multiple procurement packages concurrently
• Collaborative mindset: works closely with project managers, operations and finance teams
• Accountable: driven to ensure best outcomes for cost, quality and delivery
