Part‑Time Community Engagement Officer
6‑Month Contract
We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to support a major infrastructure project through effective stakeholder and community liaison. This is a part‑time contract commencing mid‑June 2026 for an initial 6‑month period.
About the Role
You will be responsible for managing public and community engagement activities that fall under the contractor's scope, working closely with DIT's Community Engagement Team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for community enquiries and complaints
- Receiving, logging, and responding to community correspondence
- Drafting and coordinating letter drops and community notifications
- Liaising with DIT's Community Engagement Team
- Taking calls and managing communications on behalf of the project
- Attending weekly site meetings and providing community engagement updates
- Ensuring engagement activities align with DIT requirements and project specifications
Location & Flexibility
This role is primarily office‑based, with duties split across:
- Contractor Head Office
- DIT Head Office (Pirie Street)
- On‑site attendance for meetings as required
- Some functions of this role can be performed from home, providing flexibility alongside office and site‑based requirements.
The role would suit someone seeking approximately 4 days per week, ideally during school hours.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- IAP2 training or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in community consultation or engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing sensitive community issues and complaints
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders
- Experience within infrastructure or government environments (highly regarded)
