Construction Labourer/Trade Assistant

The Opportunity

Workforce Extensions Geelong is currently seeking reliable, hands-on individuals for ongoing opportunities within the construction and manufacturing industries across the Geelong region.

We're looking for people who enjoy variety in their working day and are equally comfortable working within a factory, workshop or yard environment as they are heading out to active job sites.

These are practical, physically active positions involving a mixture of general construction, trade assisting, materials handling, driving and site-based work. Depending on your previous experience and licences, there may also be opportunities to operate plant and equipment or assist with deliveries between sites.

You don't need to come from one particular trade background. We're interested in people who are mechanically or practically minded, know their way around tools and construction environments, and most importantly can be relied upon to turn up, work safely and contribute as part of a team.

For the right candidates, there are genuine opportunities for consistent full-time hours and longer-term employment.

What You'll Be Doing

Your duties may include:

• General construction labouring and Trade Assistant work
• Assisting trades and experienced team members with day-to-day tasks
• Working across factory, workshop, yard and site environments
• Using hand and power tools
• Basic measuring, cutting, preparation and assembly work
• Site preparation, digging and general groundwork
• Assisting with concreting and foundation preparation
• Loading and unloading tools, materials and equipment
• Moving and organising materials around the workplace
• Forklift operation where appropriately licensed
• Operating small plant and equipment where experienced
• Driving company vehicles and delivering tools, equipment or materials to job sites
• Assisting site crews once deliveries have been completed
• General factory and production duties as required
• Maintaining clean, organised and safe work areas

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience within construction, trade assisting, manufacturing, fabrication, civil, landscaping or another practical hands-on environment.

More importantly, you'll need to be someone who is reliable, physically capable and comfortable taking on a variety of responsibilities.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Previous construction, labouring or Trade Assistant experience
• Confidence using common hand and power tools
• Experience working around machinery, plant or equipment
• Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake manual work
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely
• Good communication and a reliable approach to attendance
• Ability to work independently as well as within a small team
• Flexibility to work between workshop/factory and site environments
• A genuine interest in stable, longer-term employment

Licences & Tickets

A White Card and current driver's licence will be essential for these opportunities.

Any of the following will be particularly well regarded:

• MR or HR truck licence
• Forklift licence
• Excavator experience, ideally on machines around 1.7 tonne or larger
• Working with Children Check
• Experience operating small plant or construction equipment
• Other relevant construction or high-risk work licences

You don't necessarily need to hold every licence listed above. We're interested in hearing from candidates with different combinations of practical experience, licences and tickets.
