On behalf of our valued client, a leading manufacturing business we are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join their team on a full time permanent basis. Based in Ballarat, the successful applicant will play a key role in contributing manufacturing operations of this long established and market leading business.

Working collaboratively with the Operations Manager, the role provides dedicated purchasing support for all aspects of the manufacturing arm of the business. Day to day responsibilities will include;

  • Ensuring the computerised stock management system is accurate and up to date
  • Stock ordering/purchasing: Purchase stock through external suppliers and ensure stock levels are at their optimal levels thus ensuring the factory is able to fulfill production targets
  • Physical inventory review: Frequently walk through the factory and warehouse (every few days) to ensure there is adequate stock levels of critical items/parts
  • Quarterly stocktakes: In collaboration with the Operations Manager, manage the quarterly stocktakes to ensure the computerised stock management system is accurate
  • Administrative duties including but not limited to ordering and maintaining stationery, mail, logging usage and maintenance of pool vehicles, assisting with site visitor lunches etc;
  • Any adhoc tasks as directed by the General Manager, Operations Manager and/or Finance Business Partner

To be considered, we are hoping to speak with candidates who have the following skills, attributes and experience;

  • Previous experience in any of purchasing, manufacturing or finance fields
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy of work
  • High level organisation skills with an ability to manage ever changing workflows
  • Strong administrative and computer skills (particularly MS Office) with an ability to learn internal ERP's
  • Effective communication skills both in person and in written form
  • Achieve quality outcomes and meet deadlines
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Analytical ability and effective communication skills
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Able to interact with all levels of staff
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, both to clients, staff and management
