About the Role
Workforce Extensions is proud to be partnering with Chief Group, a respected name in Victoria's civil construction industry. We're seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to join their team and play a key role in delivering a diverse range of infrastructure and civil projects across the state.
The purpose of this role is to champion and coordinate health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) initiatives across Chief Group's construction projects, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation and a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments
- Support safety plans and procedures, working with project teams to embed HSEQ practices.
- Lead incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
- Mentor site teams in safety behaviours and safe working practices.
- Coordinate training, inductions and toolbox talks.
- Maintain safety records, documentation and reporting systems.
- Liaise with regulators, subcontractors and stakeholders on safety matters.
- Facilitate return to work programs and rehabilitation processes if needed.
Required Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Qualification in occupational health & safety, environmental science or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a construction safety role (preferably in civil construction).
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and construction sector compliance.
- Excellent observational, auditing and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence site teams.
- Proactive and visible on site.
- Credible advisor (respected by both management and site workers).
- High attention to detail.
- Proactive problem solver.
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet tender deadlines.
