About Plastek Industries

Plastek Industries is a well established Australian manufacturer with more than 50 years of industry experience.

The business manufactures and supplies precast concrete, underground infrastructure and plastic products to the civil, plumbing and construction sectors. With a strong history and an established customer base, Plastek is entering an exciting period of development and growth.

This is a hands-on manufacturing environment where quality, safety, reliability and getting the job done right are important to the business.

About the Role

You'll take ownership of a broad range of safety, quality and compliance responsibilities across Plastek's concrete and plastics operations.

A key focus of this position is the ongoing management, development and leadership of Plastek's ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring quality is embedded in everything we do, moving beyond compliance to build a culture where documented processes, accountability, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction are parts of everyday operations. Working across all departments, you will drive the maturity of our quality systems and help establish ISO 9001 as a cornerstone of how Plastek improves and grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve Plastek's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

  • Ensure business processes are documented, controlled and aligned with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Work with managers and supervisors to embed quality ownership and accountability across the business.
  • Develop, maintain and improve WHS policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, inductions, internal audits and customer audits.
  • Manage incidents, hazards, non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety, quality and compliance training and toolbox talks.
  • Oversee quality control processes and maintain quality records, documentation and traceability.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, standards and customer requirements.
  • Investigate complaints and process issues, implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Work with suppliers and subcontractors to maintain quality and compliance standards.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with the successful delivery of new products and projects.

What We Are Looking For

We're looking for someone who;

  • Is practical, organised and confident working across both the operational and administrative aspects of safety, quality and compliance.
  • Has demonstrated experience managing and improving ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Has a strong understanding of WHS legislation, ISO 9001 requirements, quality assurance principles, process control, root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Has a proven ability to build a culture where safety, quality and accountability are embraced across all levels of the business.
  • Is comfortable engaging with production teams and leading change in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience in a safety, quality, compliance or similar manufacturing role
  • Strong knowledge of WHS systems, risk management and incident investigation
  • Experience with quality systems, audits and corrective actions
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively with production staff and management
  • A practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
